A Risky Business
US News & World Report, February 15, 1988
America's Brian Boitano is a ioneer. The 24-year-old athletewas the firat ever to attempt a quadruple jump - requiring four revolutions in the air - in competition. He didn't quite pull it off and won't try the high-risk maneuver at the Olympics, where a fall could spell defeat. But Boitano still is expected to dazzle the crowd with eight triple jumps that could well bring him the men's figure skating crown.
Although Boitano came in second in the world championships last year, he glided away with the U.S. championships in December.
